Ceremony – Taronga Zoo Bird Amphitheatre

How did you meet? They say that no great story ever started with someone eating a salad, however for us we met whilst working in our first jobs at Coles. Iain was in Fresh Produce and Nicole on service. ‘Lettuce’ not bore you with the details.

How did you get engaged?  Iain pulled off the most amazing and romantic proposal! He surprised me with a white Christmas in New York (which he eventually had to tell me about because I had packed all summer clothes). On the second day in he took me to Columbus Circle. Under the world globe there were roses in the shape of a heart and a photographer hiding to the side. He proposed and then the photographer took engagement photos of us through New York. The day was topped off with my favourite musical Lion King on Broadway. I don’t think the day could have been any better for us both

How long did you spend planning your Wedding? We spent a year and a half planning. Once we had picked the Orso, the rest was easy!

How would you describe your Big Day? The day was perfect, better than we had dreamed and both of us could honestly not fault it. We knew that we had done everything we could planning wise and on the day it was about relaxing and enjoying the good company. We had a house organised close by with all our immediate families and bridal party to get ready at which made the morning a lot of fun. The sun was out for a really beautiful ceremony at the zoo which was quite a modern fun atmosphere and reflected our personalities to a tee. Finally, the Orso! Amy, Julie, Sandor and the team ensured that everything ran smoothly and we were not without food and drinks all night! Lots of dancing, a photobooth and we had giant games which really made the evening for us.

What was the highlight of your Day? Nicoles highlight was walking down the aisle. It is hard to put into words the excitement, nerves and combination of emotions that were felt standing at the top of the ceremony in front of all my most loved family and friends, with my father by my side and seeing Iain looking at me so happy. It was a truly memorable and surreal feeling.
For Iain it was the boat ride and sparkler entrance. We decided to get a beautiful timber boat Mon Cheri from the ceremony to the reception. It was sunset and so we cuddled up whilst the photographer got some great shots of us under the harbour bridge and opera house. Would 100% recommend to any future brides and grooms! We then arrived to the Orso to have all our guests lined up and cheering ready for a sparkler entrance.

Do you have any suggestions for future Brides and Grooms?  It is so easy to get caught up in the planning and trying to please everyone. At the end of the day, do what makes you both happy and what reflects you both as a couple and I am sure everyone will love it. It is super helpful in the lead up to be organised but also remembering that no matter how organised you are, things will change and, in those moments, you need to relax and not sweat it! Also choose your suppliers carefully as we did and they made our process super easy. You can entirely rely on the Orso team to have your wedding run smoothly. They are truly amazing and know exactly what to do to provide you with your perfect day.
