Ceremony – Bradleys Head Amphitheatre, Mosman
How did you meet? We met back in 2005 when Sambo was working at Olympic Park, I was a customer coming in for a concert and noticed him as we drove into the carpark. My friend went and gave him my number and he called me later that night and the rest is history!
How did you get engaged? We got engaged on a Friday night at vivid in Darling Harbour. It was pouring with rain and he suggested we go on the ferris wheel to get out of the rain and watch the fireworks and light show. As we reached the top, after going around a few times he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him, right as the music and fireworks started.
How long did you spend planning your Wedding? A few months, we have been together for about 13 years now so it was fairly easy to plan our wedding. We had our not negotiables such as our acoustic singer, music for the DJ and our venues and the rest of it just fell into place.
How would you describe your Big Day? It honestly was incredible. It went exactly as we had imagined. Just before our ceremony the winds really picked up and some of our vendors were worried and suggested that we move to our wet weather venue, but it was too late to do that as we already had guests arriving, so instead of having our archway set up, we just took advantage of the view, braved the winds and continued with our ceremony. Our Reception ran perfectly. Shandor was a superstar, he allowed us to enter earlier due to the wild winds and made sure that we were well looked after while we waited for our guests to arrive. He checked in with both of us throughout the night and kept us informed of any minor delays in timing and ensured that we had a fresh drink and were well fed! Most of all our guests were telling us all night that it was “hands down” one of the best weddings they had attended and it was a true reflection of who we were as a couple, from the music to the speeches, right down to the cheese and cake platters we requested for dessert.
What was the highlight of your Day? The wind at our ceremony certainly made for a memorable afternoon, but the speeches by our bridal party and Sambo were the highlight. They were honest, funny and full of so much joy and love for not only us as individuals but also as a couple.
Do you have any suggestions for future Brides and Grooms? Don’t sweat the small stuff! You can’t control the weather but you can control your emotions about it. A wedding is about you celebrating your lives together with your nearest and dearest, don’t let it be all about the gimmicky stuff, unless of course you like it! Relax, breath and take a moment with each other. I remember standing off to the side at one point and just taking it all in, it goes by so fast so take a moment.
